Whizz-Kidz is about more than just providing equipment. We are constantly looking at other ways that we can help improve the lives of disabled young people, through additional support and advice.
Following a joint project with the Contact a Family Helpline we are now able to provide advice and information to support children and young people and their families on a range of issues. Our focus is on providing mobility related information and advice, but our partnership with Contact a Family enabled us to pool our expertise and provide families with a wider range of information and advice on where to get help with benefits, short breaks, respite care etc.
Getting the right equipment for a child can be a minefield of frustration for families, particularly when they are not able to get what they need from their local services. From the information we receive from families and through regular consultation we can identify the common problems families face. From this we look to determine how we can raise awareness of a particular issue by incorporating it in our campaigning work. Where appropriate we would seek legal advice and take advice on how we could best get our case heard.
