Schools

Schools are now using our free schools fundraising pack with many organising their own fundraising activities to complement our disability equality lesson plans. Fundraising activities range from easy to organise dress down days to active sports tournaments.

Whether you’re a primary or secondary school teacher or pupil, you’ll find all you need to know to help bring disability equality into the classroom, along with ideas on how you can fundraise for Whizz-Kidz.

Choose a date that suits you and focus your teaching and fundraising in one week. Use our fundraising guide for advice on how to incorporate fun fundraising events into your disability equality teaching.

If you would like to request a fundraising pack, please email us or call the Regional team on 020 7233 6600.

Teaching resources

By teaching children to think about mobility and disability issues, Whizz-Kidz hopes to change attitudes and perception about disabled people and foster social inclusion for all children.

Our resource have been written for teachers to deliver effective Citizenship and PSHE at Key Stages 1-4 and address disability issues in an innovative and fun way.

We’ve worked with a group of disabled children and young people, teachers and education specialists to produce step by step lesson and assembly plans which link directly to the requirements of the national curriculum.

Find our lesson plans and worksheets below:

Alongside the easy to use lesson plans we have produced some useful work sheets and fact sheets.

Our accessibility survey will encourage pupils to look at your school surroundings from the viewpoint of a young wheelchair user and finding the right words and language - positive and negative can help students take a closer look at the words and phrases they use reflect society's view of disabled people.

The poems and quotes from young disabled people give pupils the chance to hear and share their thoughts. For an art lesson, take a look at our drawing mobility equipment work sheet.

School assembly

To tie in with your fundraising and Citizenship lesson/s we may be able to arrange for a local representative or beneficiaries to visit your school. Our representatives could lead a school assembly, a classroom discussion or support you in your fundraising.

If you’d like to request a visit from one of our local representatives, please email us or call the Regional team on 020 7233 6600.
